Army Major Martyred in Gwadar IED Blast; Four Terrorists Killed in Kalat

A Pakistan Army officer was martyred during a security operation in Balochistan's Gwadar district, while four terrorists were killed in a separate engagement in Kalat district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Monday.

Major Wajahat Waheed, a 34-year-old resident of Lahore, was leading a security force component during clearance operations in the Shadi Kaur area of Pasni tehsil when his team was targeted by an improvised explosive device (IED). The ISPR confirmed that the officer made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In a separate operation conducted in Jattakabad, Kalat district, security forces engaged a terrorist location following intelligence reports regarding the presence of "Fitna Al Hindustan" hideouts. During an intense exchange of fire, four terrorists were killed, and a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered. The military's media wing stated that the presence of these groups posed a direct threat to the local population.

The ISPR emphasized that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, conducted under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision approved by the Federal Apex Committee, will continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism. Sanitization operations remain active in Shadi Kaur to clear the area of any remaining threats.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both paid tribute to Major Waheed's sacrifice and commended the security forces for their professional services. Prime Minister Sharif reiterated the national resolve to continue the fight against terrorism, while President Zardari stated that conspiracies by local facilitators and foreign sponsors would be thwarted.
